Russian Ring
Posting my blip a little earlier than usual today on accounr of it being a miserably dark wet day outside. A good day to shoot indoors.
A bit of history. In Czarist Russia the peasants had very little going for them. Money was one thing always in short supply which meant that very often a prospective peasant groom simply couldn't afford a "real" wedding ring for his bride. To address this problem he would take three kopeks, the smallest unit of coinage, and get the local blacksmith to work them into rings which would then be interlinked like these.
The tradition has passed down through the ages and such rings are still made only now in yellow, red and white gold. This one was made by an artisan jeweller in the UK and bought as one of a pair in Covent Garden Market, London.
It so happens that this is actually my wedding ring. Guess who got the matching one?
