No 102: Osprey

Today was one of our "RSPB Old Moor" days, but we decided to stop off at the nearby Wentworth Estate for a "dirty twitch" as an osprey had been reported there over the course of several days. As the weather was quite a bit cooler today, my fear was that it would have moved on, but after a bit of a wait, it duly appeared. As it was being mobbed by crows and gulls, , and the light was poor, it was pretty hard to get a decent shot. This is the only one that has a blue sky background. We did see it do what ospreys do best - catch a fish, but sadly it was quite distance away.
We also caught a very distant glimpse of a water rail at Old Moor, so it was a 2-lifer day!

Incidentally, someone has suggested that the bird I blipped on 24 September might actually be a hobby, which would make that no. 100! Any comments, birder brethren?
