Wish all fungus was as pretty..

During this morning's walk I came across three separate sections of dead tree absolutely covered with the most amazing array of different fungi. This one particularly caught my eye as, on close inspection, it has the most wonderful tonal layers. I was astonished to see how many different species there were on the same section of stump.

It was obvious it was a week-end as the usually peaceful walk was really busy with families, horses, mountain bikes and an assortment of new dogs enjoying a romp. Mostly black Labradors and Collies today. The forecast last night was not very promising and folk seemed to have decided to make the most of it, realising that the day was not going to get any better!

Home now and after the busy gardening day yesterday I had better sort things out in the house - not nearly as interesting!
