What a night......
...christ I'm still shaking as I write this.......I took a call from a paramedic who was en route to the A&E department at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary at 6.00pm tonight. They had Mrs Scobes in the back of the ambulance and were asking me to come to the hospital......no need to describe that feeling.
Turns out Mrs Scobes had been cycling home past the Holyrood Hotel and a tourist had opened his car door on to the cycle lane without looking just as Mrs Scobes cycled past.....out cold with cycle helmet smashed at both ends.
I got to the hospital just as they were taking her into Resus. because she'd had a seizure. I was huckled out of the way by a burly nurse and ushered into a room to stew for 20mins. After an age the doc came to see me and said that she'd been in seizure for 5mins but they had settled it and were taking her for scans and X-ray.
I left her at 11pm, settled and sleeping in the observation ward, but looking pretty beaten up; thankfully her scans look good..........and I'm gonna pour myself a large whisky to settle my nerves.
The NHS are absolute heros!!
I must be conditioned to blip now as the motive to take this shot was largely a subconscious act
