Flip

1. Over to Edinburgh in the sunshine. Sunshine. The crisp, autumnal kind. I'm there to meet Flip who are the brilliant Mairi and Robert. 18 months ago we started to hatch plans on how to work together and it's only now that we can really get cracking.

2. They make me laugh so much. I tell them about my plans for dinner and that it's making me a bit anxious and they flip it right round and give me permission to head to Waitrose. It's like a weight off my shoulders.

3. And to Waitrose I go - how the other half shop. Sometimes being on Byres Road makes me feel like I'm in another city.

4. So instead of cooking, my dinner party mainly involves opening. Karen and Helen arrive and there's a relaxed moment as I say 'there will be no official start to this meal, just tuck in and I'll keep bringing plates'. Which I do.

5. There are corks to be popped. Three of them in fact. We're celebrating tonight - I love talking about weddings, particularly the weddings of people I really like. The evening stretches out in front of the fire full of chat.
