Over the Horizon

Big sky and open highway

For the next few days we camped at a sweet little camp-spot near Ear Mountain and the Nature Conservancies Pine Butte Ranch, an "outstanding natural area". No joke either, there are so many habitat types found here, a mix of public and private ranches, conservation easements, and forest service lands AND it is the only place left in the lower 48 that grizzlies still regularly come out from the mountains to forage on the plains. Plains grizzlies - so cool!

Again, some of that bittersweetness. Bummed not to see any, but maybe that's not a bad thing either. Whatever the case I can always find things to nerd out on and did some great drivers seat bird watching driving to the nearest town for supplies. Coming back we watched a big storm slowly roll up the valley from over the mountains and I snapped this picture from the truck. Big sky, mountains, and brooding storm clouds...mmmm Montana.
