Cake

Blipping cake is a bit boring but it was either that or the children's tea. To be honest, the children's tea - veg sausages, beans and jacket potatoes - looked nicer, but perhaps that is because I'm really hungry.

Today I went shopping to Kingston, and introduced a friend to the delights of shopping in charity shops. We popped into Oxfam at my request, and twenty minutes later we were leaving with her in possession of a beautiful back top and a leather jacket, totally converted. I got a great chiffon shirt printed with tiny red apples. A bit Orla Keily / Celia Birtwell for £4.

I also bought Betsy a kit with four moulds to make Harry Potter figures - Harry, Ron, Snape and Dumbledore - which you then paint. Only £3 and never used. However there are instructions in about nine languages, but not English. Spent a while trying to translate via some translation sites, but only came up with some frankly outlandish results so gave up. Will have to wing it. How hard can it be?

Made these cakes - cherry blondes - for my knitting group which us meeting here tomorrow. We take it in turns to host and everyone else makes really lovely cakes seemingly effortlessly. We once went to someones house and she had made the cake that morning! The pressure, the pressure!
