Coach Talk
Well, our football team won it's first play off today. They went through all their league games (8 of them) and won every game. I think their best was something in the region of 60-nil.
But it's end of season now so it's play offs (which means they get to play 3-4 games in the next week). This was the first of the playoffs for the Toros.
Last time they played this team the score was around 24-8. Today, it was 27-7. So no change there then! I'd like to say that our guys (I say guys but they are only 12) had an easy game, but the second half showed that they were up against it.
Anyway, this is a shot of the end of game speeches from the two coaches, one of which happens to be my brother in law.
One of the things that our coaches do well is balance the fact that these are kids; a little bit of a stick ("make sure you hit them properly, we're getting sloppy") to a bit of compassion ("you played well boys"). They understand that these are 12 year old children. But there is a huge comparison to other teams where the dads are desperately living through kids - and when they lose - my god it's as if they'll sacrifice a child or something.
But it was a good game. Still no idea how to take a decent picture of "sport".
