windswept dunes

today a few friends and i took a short country drive to the other side of the leelenau peninsula - to the open water and the most incredible dunes, like a sweeping desert perched alongside a vast inland sea. we went for a little climb in the dunes, stroll along the beach, and walk through the woods. the perfect escape from life in the 'city.'

and we were sure to stop for dark chocolate cherry cookies on the way home, we are in the cherry capitol after all :)
