The Season for Turkey
Because we did not have the holiday meal here on Thursday, we decided to cook the turkey today. Mr. Fun does all the cooking. He prepares the dressing and stuffs the turkey. He put this one in a cooking bag and really thought that worked well and eliminated much of the usual mess.
When the roasting is complete, he gets it out of the oven and does the slicing. Two days ago I took a fresh head of celery and diced the entire thing and placed it in a baggie. So that was one less thing he had to do as he prepared this morning.
With the leftovers I think we'll have turkey sandwiches the next day or two and possibly we'll make soup with some of the meat.
The aroma in this house just about drove the three pooches crazy this afternoon. Then when we sat down to eat, they were all "noses"! Honest, they never beg from us when we are eating. They sit politely while we have our meal, but today little Chloe just could hardly tolerate the moment. As soon as we had finished eating, I made their kibble dinner and gave each of them the tiniest nibble of turkey. I think it is entirely to rich for their digestive systems . . . but what do I know.
This was day two of not leaving the house. We just enjoyed ourselves here at home. I tried to clean out some clutter, sort some paperwork, and have managed to do lots of laundry throughout the day. I would really like to work in the backyard -- turning dirt and planting holiday foliage. Maybe tomorrow.
A mild Santana wind blew all day so the temperature climbed to a high of 81 degrees F. All haze in the air was gone and the silouhette of the foothills across town in the darkening night was beautiful; I've blipped that a zillion times, but turkey blipping, well, that only happens occasionally.
I hope you have a good Sunday.
Good night from Southern California.
