Berry binge

Today's the day ........................ to count the blackbirds

There were eight blackbirds in our front garden today - males and females chasing each other in a game of touch tag. The prize for the winner was a few minutes on the cotoneaster devouring the red berries.

I've never seen so many blackbirds altogether in the one place before. I know we have a pair that nest in the back garden and another pair in the front garden - so maybe this was a big garden party for parents and this year's offspring.

It's just as well that this year has been a particularly good one for the cotoneaster and there are more than enough berries to go round ...................!
