Journeys day by day

A bunny thing happened on the way to work today

About a mile from home there's a 4 way stop I call bunny corner. Someone has let free at least one domestic bunny, and it's been procreating with some wild rabbits throughout the years, and for some reason they like to hang out at this dangerous corner. I'm thinking that somehow this might be a coyote free zone. The 4 corners are all private houses with fences surrounding the yards, so the bunnies have this little strip they patrol on all 4 corners. During summer we normally see them hanging out in the morning, one or two, but today there were 3 interacting. It always makes me nervous as there are a lot of commuters making use of the intersecting roads, and this morning was no different. We have seen a few that haven't made the crossing, and it always makes me sad. I would love to photograph them, but I worry too much about endangering them by spooking them and making them run into traffic. I look for bunnies every morning and was happy and surprised to see them.

So instead I went back to my duck pond. I put one of the male mallards up the other day, and thought I should give a female a fair shake in blip land. One moved up by the "rock" and started preening herself and I took some good yoga duck poses. This one towards then end of her session struck me the most, kind of a coy "look at me, aren't I pretty" look. They're very sweet and don't seem to mind that I come empty handed.
