Today's the day ....................... to embroider

I was looking through a collection of artefacts today, given to us several years ago by a lady who was an avid collector of samplers and other embroidered textiles. It's a wonderful collection and we're fortunate that she chose us to look after them.

In amongst the boxes, I found a couple of half-framed embroideries including this one. Written on the back in pencil it said that they were 'student artwork' from Birmingham College of Art made in 1948. They also had our lady benefactor's name on them.

So, no wonder she was attracted to embroidery from days gone by - she was obviously a talented embroiderer in her own right .........................
