Mackerel sky

I was amazed at what happened this morning. The clouds parted, the sun came out and the whole sky was covered in Altocumulus, or Mackerel Sky. For me it was an incredible sight, our neighbours were less impressed with my eloquence. They just said something like, "Oh really?"

It presaged what we have now, lashing rain and rising wind. Tonight and tomorrow promise more of the same. Write off whatever you have planned for Friday, I kid you not. What aviators call a Zebra's Bum is moving in from the Atlantic on Thursday, pushed along by a huge surge in the N Atlantic jet stream. Were doomed I tell you, doomed.
