Land of Plastic

As Mr. McGuire once said to Benjamin in The Graduate, "I want to say just one word to you...plastics." Mexico has taken that one word to new levels. Plastics are everywhere: people get their juice in plastic bags, everyone carries plastic bags full of fruits and vegetables from the market, water is stored in huge plastic tanks, and there are a large number of stores selling plastic wares. Our neighbor, who speaks Spanish very well, took me to get cable installed in our apartment. On the way back, she asked if it was okay to stop at a new plastic store she had spotted. Are you kidding, I was salivating at the chance to shoot in one of these multicolored stores. The chairs shown here were the most interesting of the many items of colorful plastic spread throughout this outdoor space. I managed to stop shooting long enough to purchase a couple of items in appreciation of such great subjects.
