Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

December Foam

We woke this morning in beautiful Laguna Beach; affectionally called "Galuna" by the "Fun" Clan! During the night the wind had blown away all the rain clouds and the coastal view was crystal clear. We could see Catalina Island and another 25 miles beyond that we could see San Clemente Island.

Throughout the day we stayed as close to the H2O as possible . . . first by driving south to the community of San Clemente to have breakfast on the pier with the ocean's delightful performance as it quietly crested, then roared into turbulence, and splashed into disintegrating foam.

After breakfast we stopped to talk with a real estate person about vacation rental properties; we learned there are lots of places to rent for vacation if we ever want to do so.

Then we drove back a few blocks from the shore to the library. I thought Mr. Fun was going to spend the rest of the day in the "friends of the library" store. He made a bargain purchase of a dozen or so CDs and DVDs and I snuck one $2.00 book into the pile.

The drive back to Laguna was beautiful because the air was so clear. From our room we watched the sun slip into the ocean; we could almost hear it sizzle. Mr. Fun reminded me, even though I didn't need reminding, that we were still celebrating his birthday. So he decided what we'd do for dinner. We walked across Pacific Coast Highway to a little pizza joint and enjoyed a delicious dinner.

This has been a fun day on southern California's coast.
Good night from Laguna Beach.
