Shadows at Noon

... or soon after.

These are part of an avenue of trees in the park that is very close to us. My intention was to compare the appearance on this bright and sunny, but cold and windy, day with a similar view from late April. How different it is, and how long the shadows in late December. Only four months to go!

But it was a lovely winter's day. Our Christmas guests have gone: they left this morning. They are all good friends of around 50-years' standing. We had an excellent time together. To replace them temporarily, our dear daughter came visiting for the day, and we had another fun time. Mother and daughter are walking here in the avenue of chestnuts.
