Tired Tourist Attraction

We went to Kelly Tarltons today, which is billed as one of Auckland's premier tourist attractions. Well, it isn't. Really. I am embarrassed as an Aucklander, that we bill it as that.

1. It is WAY overpriced (we got in with a voucher from a loyalty scheme)
2. Their queuing system needs a LOT of work.
3. The penguins don't appear to see the light of day, and their enclosure feels very depressing
4. The Snowcat ride is clunky and needs refurbishing.
5. Most of it looks as if it hasn't had any much needed work since the place opened in 1985.

Don't waste your money going here. It is a rip off for what is there. Sure, little kids love it, but hey, you could go to a pet shop and have a free aquarium experience there.

These guys were interesting. The big one had abandoned his shell, maybe too small, and was eyeing up his next home.
