Not a Snake

Before we set out on this trip we had a bit of an idea of what each of us would like to take photos of.

For TeeJay it was basically anything ironically Australian - native birds such as the cockatoo and Galas, kangaroos leaping about, koalas, wombats and so forth. She has done very well in her quest and gathered most so is feeling good about her achievements.

My needs were simple - I was just happy to get photos that were in focus. But I have never seen a snake in the wild let alone photographed one. We did see them at the Adelaide Zoo but taking photos of those ones we had to concede was cheating - we are still discussing TeeJays photo of the bronze statue of a wombat.

Anyway, we have arrived at Pambula NSW, a small town on the way to Melbourne and the motel owner warned us that there are snakes over the fence and to be careful walking around. Oh yeah, finally after 3 years in Aus I might see a snake and even get to photograph it - BUT - do you think TeeJay would run through the long grass with a stick and flush one out while I stood on the picnic table with my camera???

Hence the stick pretending to be a snake for me. It was one of the better suggestions TeeJay had on how I might use the stick.
