Nutshell

Evening all,

Nearly got round to taking the Christmas decorations down today. Got all the decorations down but still have to take down the Christmas tree and the lights, which we will do tomorrow.

My family (or the female,and therefore important members of the family) have a "done that, moved on" mentality about life. Which is probably more healthy than my over-sentimentalised navel gazing.

This was highlighted today whilst we were sorting the fire out, i was all excited about finding some chestnuts left over from Christmas and roasting them to keep the spirit of Christmas going a bit, and when i turned round she was snapping branches off the Christmas tree to use as kindling for the fire !!!

Right this second, without knowing what i type, just as she walks past me on the way to bed, she stares at the fire and says:

"Its dying down, if you want to keep it going you'll have to throw some more of the tree on it"!

and that is us, in a nutshell.
