Schiehallion sunrise

After making a 3:15 getaway from home, I was on the summit of Schiehallion in as the horizon was beginning to be outlined with colour from a sun still some way from breaking out for the morning.

Putting on all of the layers I was carrying, I sipped my coffee, finished the last of the year's Christmas cake, and began to absorb the view.

Many photographs later, I began a rapid descent to the car so as not to be too late back to Edinburgh for church. My return progress was punctuated only by brief pauses - like the one that spawned this image - to capture some more of the serene beauty within which I found myself.
