Fungi....Part Deux

I blipped 3 different kinds of fungi the other day, and made it into a fungi collage. After taking all 3, I thought this guy deserved his own billing. He lives on top of a stump, in a small wooded area, about 100 yards outside my back door.

With my tennies on...I mushed through the 2-3 inches of snow that has fallen the last couple of days.

With my longer lens on...I had to back away from the shrooms to get my shot. I still didn't like the angle to get the creases underneath. I thought for 5 seconds about crouching into a squat. It hurt me to just think about it, plus...if I tumbled over...I would have rolled for 3-4 feet. I settled on sacrificing my left knee to the elements, and ended up with a wet knee.

The fungi reminds me of old pancakes. Do you remember the old days when you just left whatever you had for lunch or supper on a plate on the stove? It seems like we had no concerns about things getting spoiled. After a couple of hours...the pancakes (and other foods) took on a different look.

I thought the snow gives it a special touch. I might go back in a few days with a different lens and attempt some close-ups. Too cold now (27 F)...plus my left leg is chilly.
