red rivalry...

...with the pink poinsettia

yes people... i now have new red leaves on what i thought was a defunct red poinsettia plant...

i only purchased the little red because i wanted some color for christmas this year (well - last year)... since i'd thought the other poinsettia had gone by the wayside you see... it barely lasted until the holiday, though. it must be something about the plant - perhaps they just don't respond well to me... i don't know - it began to lose leaves shortly after i brought it home... so very sad. i tried to bribe it... sweet talked it... watered it faithfully... nothing worked... soon all the red was gone and i was left with spindly almost empty branches - with barely there green leaves sticking about on it. really pitiful...

however, as you rejoiced with me the other day with poinsettia lives - i guess little red noticed too... and got jealous... because today i did one of those infamous double takes again. i saw not 1 but 4 little red leaves that weren't there the other day - i swear... boy oh boy - i grabbed the camera quick in case they decided to fall off - put on my new, cheap screw on macro lens to get really close up and snapped away... although this leaf appears quite large - it really is only about 1/8th the size of my little finger nail - maybe... very small... very cute indeed. it has made for quite...
