Tranquil

How cold.
How sunny.
How peaceful.
How quiet.
How beautiful.
How deserted.

Very peaceful in large.

All to myself. Only me. And the fishes.

To the right is the 64th lock you would encounter should you come this way from Leeds.

To the left is a short stretch of the Walton Summit branch, around 2 furlongs in length and sadly going nowhere. It was originally meant to be the South End of the Lancaster Canal and was once about 3 miles in length, but never quite made it all the way to Preston due to lack of funding. The M61 went across it at some point as well, as motorways often rudely do, which didn't help matters.

It is a little overgrown now but nonetheless still a very pretty, if short, section to walk along.
