Bleak day

I have been laid low with a twenty four hour bug of some sort but today was well enough for a planned trip to lunch with friends. They live in a pretty place on the Kent/Sussex border but in my brief walk from the car I could only take this rather unprepossessing scene. It was bitterly cold.
