Gibostad trading post

Have crossed the Vestfjorden and threaded our way through the Lofoten and Vesteralen Islands overnight, today was spent carrying on North through a network of fjords stopping off at Finnsnes and Tromso.

This is very smooth sailing for much of the time lulling the unsuspecting traveller to think that there isn't any challenge on the coastal voyage above the Arctic Circle.

This little village was once as important waterside trading point at a sharp bend on the Gisundet which separates mainland Norway from the island of Senja.
