i could tell ya some gossip...

...how much time do you have?

little squirrels were following me around... literally... swarming - there must have been hundreds of them - (okay, i'm making that number up - it was a bit less than that) - waiting... for food... because -

this man... who looked homeless - but i don't think he was - he simply appeared so... was wandering from tree to tree to tree... looking for nooks and crannies - filling them with peanuts. i was minding my own business - snapping away, enjoying the sun - chatting with the geese - when i noticed the squirrels gathering around me... i told them i didn't have food... that's when i saw this man - further up the path. i gave a heads up to the squirrels that's where they needed to be. off they scampered...

i caught up to the man who said "it's my full time job now..." i looked at him... "feeding them - no one else will... they stay away - i need to take care of them..." i said, "they appreciate it, too... look at those faces..." for sure - squirrel faces can be the cutest ever - and these little ones were full of gratitude i'm certain... the wind then came up in a big way - the man said it was getting mighty cold - he'd best get back to his truck - i smiled at him and said okay... he grinned back - and off he went...

an interesting interaction... with a nice man though, who feels it's his job to take care of the wildlife. i have to say it touched me - that whatever's going on in his life - he feels it necessary to look after god's creation and brings peanuts to the park every day for the squirrels to find... i wonder if he goes to different parks as well - to take care of others... why squirrels... why now... what's his story... we all have our stories don't we? are we willing to share - to be open with strangers to tell... we never know who we'll come into contact with - whose path we'll cross. we should be ready - it can make for...

a

happy day.....
