Playing with Light

Funicular...

Today is my anniversary so no work today....Jen and I have headed up to the North Devon coast for a jolly!

We stopped at Wachett then skirted the North side of Exmoor and ended up in Lynmouth. We went up Porlock Hill, dear old Auntie used to tell stories of going up there in a charabanc when everybody had to get out and push!! How steep could it be? One in Four is the answer, even had to drop the Rav down into first gear round one of the bends!

This is a shot of the carriage at the funicular railway at Lynmouth. There are two cars on the tracks. The one at the top fills with water from the river, the brakes are released and it comes down the cliff, dragging the car at the bottom back up in the process. The car then ejects its water onto the beach and away they go again....ingenious and uses no power whatsoever! Clever lot those Victorians...

Back home for pancakes then off to the pictures.....photo competition after work tomorrow (nature, don't fancy my chances), catch up with you all on Thursday.....have a Bliptastic time...
