C .Dickens

Next m0orning Charles Dickens is strolling through the old town of Edinburgh and wanders into the Canongate Kirk. He notices some headstones of famous folk and is very surprised to find one stating Ebenezer Scroggie and beneath the name Charles thinks it says Mean Man. This sets him off into thinking of a mean man at Christmas and so Ebenezer Scrooge is now the centre of the very famous tale
' A Christmas Carol. '
In fact Charles Dickens was dislexic and the stone actually read
Ebenezer Lennox Scroggie, Mealman. -- corn merchant Scroggie had been a wine merchant and was much respected in the town. It was said that he was a fine jovial chap with a generous nature. In fact the total opposite of Scrooge! His name has been brought into disrepute. I wonder if he would have sued?
