Spring crocuses
Just outside my back door there are two shallow planters of purple crocuses.
The day was so mild that I went to my art class this morning without a jacket on! It was such a lovely day. The art class is held in the spacious club room of our local bowling green. There are large windows all along one side of the room looking out over the immaculately kept green. Beyond that there is the most stunning panorama of hills out to the west. Everyone remarked on the clarity of shape and colour and the way the sunlight moved and highlighted aspects of the view in a changing pattern of light and shade.
On my return home, I went through the rear gate into the garden, noticing the tiny "tete-a-tete" daffodils which would soon be opening and scattering some birds which had been feeding from the seed feeder. I rounded the corner of the house and there they were - these lovely open crocuses. They are not in direct sunlight so it must have been the mild day that had persuaded them to open up to reveal their gorgeous veins and bright orange stamens - (biologists correct me please!) I decided that they would be today's blip!
