....the last meal......
Went to the doctors over half term for ablood pressure check...it was ok...but I'd had some blood tests done about a month ago....and my blood sugar level was slightly high...first time ever....so the doctor said "You're probably diabetic".
I looked incredulous...that was it ........one slightly high blood sugar level and I'm diabetic? "Well, " she said "you're turned 50 now"...actually as my date of birth showed I turned 50 four years ago. So she told me to call at reception on my way out and book a GTT.
I did and the receptionist said it was a two hour test....my face must have been a picture because she then said ..."She didn't explain what it is did she?" Well, no she didn't! Turns out it's a Glucose Tolerance Test...I have to give a blood sample....then they give me a very sugary drink....then I have to stay there for two hours...then I give another sample.
If I hadn't bothered calling at reception the doctor would never have remembered that she'd told me to get the test.....and when it's been done, if I don't phone for the results she'll forget to tell me what the results are!
To put the tin hat on it they told me no food or drink after 8.00 p.m. tonight....so that's 13 and a half hours until the first test....fifteen and half hours until the second test...and then about another 30 minutes before I can get somewhere for some food....and that's if they're running on time....highly unlikely. So I've had to book half a day off work because the tests are at 9.30 and 11.30.
The Boss has been to see her Dad today, the daughter was late in from work....so this is what I made for dinner....a meat treat pizza....and no, I didn't eat it all myself!
We were two down in the Faculty today...one is going to be an all week thing and the other is having an op at the weekend and I suspect will probably be missing for a couple of weeks. Where did I put that smooth handled brush?
