....Fix it with a sticking plaster....
So off to the Health Centre I trotted this morning.
Checked in on the interactive screen.
Only 5 minutes late in to the nurse.
"Oh you've come for the GTT, lets have a look at your last blood test.......Cholesterol is fine.....don't know why she's asked for a GTT your blood sugar is only slightly high....and it's the first time it's ever been high....potassium is low...did Doctor mention that?"
"No? Oh well I might as well get a full sample and do them all again while you're here."
In went the needle....out came the blood.
"Righto...now you have to drink this..... not straight off...take two or three minutes"
So I drank it...very sweet and icy cold..... a whole standard size vending machine cup of it.
"Oh no...the whole bottle!"
So I drank all 350ml of it.....75% glucose solution.
Then she found a key and unlocked a consulting room and stuck me in there with my kindle for two hours. I could have done anything to mess up the test....gorged on chocolate...made myself sick to get rid of it....anything.
Two hours later...back in with the nurse...rolled up my left sleeve...."Oh no not that one again...it'll be sore....the other arm"
In went the needle....... out came the blood.
"Ok, that's you done...if you want the results phone after 2.00 on Friday"
Off I went, retrieved the car from the car park...and then I realised....it's Wednesday....we have different lesson times on Wednesday....I had 15 minutes to get to work....gone was the vision of a McD's breakfast from the drive through...luckily I'd brought a banana. Ate it while I drove....I know, I know, naughty boy. Made it with two minutes to spare.
Two lessons, then a meeting standing in for one of our absent colleagues...then an hour writing reports...delegated lesson planning for tomorrow...then another colleague informed me she'd be in late tomorrow due to taking her little one to the doctors.
Home to a proper meal at last.
Now tomorrow all I have to do is teach my three lessons, plan next week's lessons, write as many reports as I can, plan lessons for the absent colleague for Friday....and then a meeting until 6.00.
My cup runneth over.
