Long haul
A long day with meetings in dour, dreich, wet miserable Fort William home to the highest rainfall in Scotland and possibly the world!
Back home and sitting with a glass of Mead with a dash of whisky in it in front of a roaring big fire.
Yesterdays meeting was fruitful which is more than I can say for the lunch of boring, tasteless baked tattie! Today I understand there was some Scottish tourism forum at Portavadie (dead easy to get to...not) but nice none the less I have to admit. I would have liked to have gone but work got in the way.
Anhows I wonder how much time was spent discussing our wonderful Scottish culture, I bet it was all about "quality experience" four star service (where ever that can be found) What happened to the Taste of Scotland one of our better tourist drives? One wee economic hic cup and the excellent Connect Festival at Inveraray castle went down the swanny!
My Dutch friends have been going to the same spot in South Uist for over 25 years along with a lovely retired Church of England minister and his wife both to the same spot on the Uist machair. Was it because of four star so called quality service? I asked them "what keeps bringing you here to the same spot?" Their answer "the view" and "you wonderful people" Says it all the two things that can make the Scottish experience special...its magnificent views and its people. Nuff said!
God I need to stop grumping! Blip emailed me today asking to do a publicity news bit about my blips but I think I will have to decline! One of the things I like about blip is the cloak of anonimity I have, a publicity item would "out" me to people I know. I much prefer rambing to folkd I dont know or work with.
What do you think? Yes or no!
The above view is a lovely little old cottage, it overlooks a graveyard and I was saying to a friend "God it must be awful waking up every day to a view over a graveyard" then he told me the cottage occupant is a little old lady aged........95! Have a long and happy blip all
Thanky you all for you lovely comments on my milestone blip that slipped past me till you all began pointing it out. Thanks again
