Alice in Wonderland
For as long as I can remember, this Alice in Wonderland doll has greeted me when I walk into the guest room at Gran's house. I know it's there for everyone, but I like to think it's there for me. She's a little faded and stained and tired looking in some places, but I love her familiarity all the same. And today I noticed something new about her. If you look closely at her right pocket (on the left as you look at her), you'll see the hint of a pink disk sticking out of the pocket. 20+ years of looking at this doll and I've never noticed it! So sad because it's something that I love...because it's so clever. Bet you can guess what it is...yes, a little pink wafer that has "eat me" written on it. Love that. Nearly as much as I love the peach bedspreads that you see that we have to pull back before we sit on the bed. And the dark green throw that you see that used to be the only blanket in the house. Granddaddy would offer it to me and I would reluctantly take it...it is so itchy!...only because I was cold. And the dark wood of the bed posts. Yes, just some more tastes of "home" for me - my Gran's home.
