I missed Friday!

After another late night at Burgundy's and an early start to go to Manchester, yes, I missed Friday!! This is John Powney on drums, a man on top of his game and I think that is why he seems to have that "I am thinking about something else look" and maybe he was!. In this sketch he is looking at Ted Taylor on keyboards.
Very talented and seemingly carefree Ted was having a great time, and maybe John just had to concentrate hard on following him - Ted seemed to be taking the lead although it was Dave Lee that was the real leader! But Dave, as cool as ever on his sax, both had to keep up with Ted and "communicate" with his daughter Frances who was lead vocalist. The question was who was really leading but one thing for sure, the coolest of them all was Lawrence Canty on base guitar totally relaxed on his high stool and producing a great sound. What a great night - not only awesome jazz and but also entertainment. And to top it all, my friend John Davies gives me a vinyl Benny Goodman that he won in the raffle as he no longer had a turntable!! But I did not manage to sketch Jules in her new jazzy hat - there will be another time!!
