Hidden Delights

Yesterday I finished work early and went to meet the other half for a late lunch/early dinner. We met on the mound and deliberated on where to go and eat. We wandered west and then decided to head east along George Street towards the reliable Omni centre and its selection of eateries so it would be easier to roll home after eating. But I caught sight of a random cluster of shops and resturants on a side street that I hadn't seen before. The side street turned out to be Thistle Street and Tex Mex II caught our eye and we decided to go on in.

The decor was cute (anything with purple include in the colour scheme gets top marks from me!) and the resturant was quiet but not akwardly so. Seating was a little bit cramped, although the window seats looked nice. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the paprika popcorn we were given while browsing the menu was something different.

To begin with we ordered a small portion of nachos (minus the guacamole which neither of us like). The nachos came with chilli rather than salsa and was topped with spring onions which is something I'm going to try next time.

For the main course we ordered quesidillas with chorizo and came with a side salad which came with a dressing but it wasn't too heavy. The flavours worked well together and I felt full but K. felt he could probably do with a snack later on. However the price of the meal did get a thumbs up (£15 approx for a starter, 2 x mains and we just had tap water). We decided to skip desert and get something at home, but overall we'd probably give the place 7.5/10.

It was nice to try someplace new and next time I'd like to give one of the frozen margharitas a go!
