Maskerade

I'm currently reading Maskerade by Terry Pratchett. I'm slowly working my way through the Discworld, and while I have to admit the witches aren't my favourite characters, they are growing on me. This book has a wonderful take on the phantom of the opera.

I woke up this morning and read for an hour before doing anything else (cleaning and rugby mostly - yes I'm exciting). It's really put me in the mood for watching the DVD version of phantom of the opera. The songs have been going around in my head all day! I remember when I first watched the film version, I adored it. It's the first time (I've read it and seen it on the stage a couple of times) I related to the phantom, felt sorry for him and wanted him to win.

A long time ago, I went to Venice with a boyfriend. We went all over the place, day after day, trying to find me the perfect Venetian mask. I desperately wanted one. Bless him for indulging me! This is that perfect mask. It has sat on my mantel piece ever since. I love it. I've never worn it, but I'd love to.

Seeing it now makes me certain that I'll watch the DVD tonight. Brilliant. Bring on a bit of Gerard Butler...mmmm....
