Life through the lens...

Degibna Woods

Blips back to normal after yesterday!

Foggy morning,but quite warm.
Had a walk to Loe Bar, round the Penrose Estate, and round the shore of the lake, through these woods, and Loe marsh which looked like mangrove swamps, and back to Porthleven (about 7 miles)
The weather was bright, and the sun kept trying to shine. Perfect walking weather.
A beautiful walk, birds singing, Primroses out, quite a lot of wild fowl on the lake.

This is Cornwall's largest natural fresh water lake.Filled by the river Cober, and protected from the sea by a huge shingle beach.

Some people believe this to be the place where Sir Bedivere cast away Excalibur, the sword of the dying King Arthur. Tennyson, in his Morte d'Arthur, describes it thus; "On one side lay the ocean and on one lay a great water."

Quite a magical place!
