Early Morning View
Saturday morning we woke before the sun was lighting the pier and had the pleasure of watching as the light as it crept slowing toward the shoreline as the sun rose higher and higher in the sky behind our little vacation spot.
A little while later we walked the a path, crossed the train tracks, and out onto the pier to have a look back at the homes and buildings giving personality to this location. Then we walked on the sand for a while and looked back again at our "place" -- on the right is our B&B with the rounded outdoor staircase. It's a beautiful place and we enjoyed everything about it, even the Amtrak train that whistles past throughout the day with one occasionally stopping to spew out a few passengers and take on a few before it heads on to south to San Diego or north to Los Angeles.
We spent the first half of the day in San Clemente ; then checked-out of the B&B and drove north along the coast to Laguna Beach and enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner at "The Shack" which serves wonderful organic vegetatarian soups, sandwiches, burritos, and many other delicious choices. We even had a shot of "wheatgrass" (yuck) to accompany our lunch and give us an extra measure of health.
While in Laguna we stopped at the Friends of the Library. Mr. Fun purchased several DVDs and I found one book by Elizabeth Gilbert (she wrote Eat, Pray, Love). So we both satisfied our "shopping" urge. Then a quick stop at the bakery for a macaroon -- yum! Then we were both quite satisfied with the thought of heading for home and rendezvousing with our pooches.
I'm not sure that we would have planned our day any other way that the way it unfolded; it was just deliciously satisfying and fun.
Now back at Funville -- Good night.
