Thistle Down

By Ethel

Feathers

Lovers they were,
Two yellow feathers.
That twirled around,
And danced together.

Over the lawn,
Where green grass grew.
They touched each other,
And upward flew.

On a gentle breeze,
And just for show.
They bent to the earth,
In a curtsy low.

They fluttered their plumes,
In an easy stride.
And a bit of the tango,
They each one tried.

Then away...and away,
Mid a seizure of laughter.
And we who were watching,
Tried to run after.
