Recovery - Day 5
Backblipped
What a day!
Late last night a lady was moved into our bay of the ward. She was very noisy, shouting out to nurses at the nurses station down the corridor all night and on the phone and shouting obscenities at me and Beth. She was acting like a nasty and belligerent woman. At one point she leapt out of her bed and ran off down the corridor, screaming that they were going to kill her. She snapped off her drain and needed emergency medical attention on her bed in the ward.
Actually, it all got a bit scary and upsetting for me and Beth as every time a nurse left her bedside, she kicked off. I have been trying so hard to be sympathetic as it must be some side effect from her surgery or medication making her like this. I did not sleep since then. So tired. After around 10 hours of giving abuse and raging paranoia, they let her daughter in and she calmed down. Oh my.
Anyway, good news is that when the physio came round today I was a bit of a star as I managed an unaided lap of the ward (looking forward, not dragging feet) and I slowly made it up and down a short flight of stairs.
SO, I WAS ALLOWED TO GO HOME!!!!! Yay!
Had my dressing changed first and the photo is what is under there. A bunch of steri-strips over some stitches. Not as scary as I was lead to believe.
Dad came to get me and, after saying farewell to Beth and warning her mother about the scary lady not to mention a bumpy car journey, I am safely home to my parents' house. N and I are going to stay here for a little while.
It's so peaceful. Bliss.
