inspired by white violets
I saw these little white violets on my walk into Kendal. It reminded me of my walks home from junior school with my best friend Rosemary. Her Uncle was the 'roadman' who kept our lane free of leaves in the Autumn and cleared the banks and ditches in the Summer. Rosemary knew all the best places for the juiciest wild strawberries, and where the patch of 'shaking grass' could be found. She also shared the secret of the white violet and we knew just when and where to find it.
When I got down on my hands and knees to 'blip' this one, I realised that, although the petals were pure white, the spur was, in fact, violet coloured.
Aren't wild flowers wonderful?
