I walked into the Friends' Meeting House this morning and there it was. The colours looked as if they had been painted onto the stone floor. I had to stand between the light source, high up in the window, and the stone floor to convince myself it was just a refracted image.

It was the unexpected play of coloured light on the hard stone floor that made it such a delight - like seeing the iridescent flash of a kingfisher in the early morning sunshine.
