Super Brand Mall

A full-on sightseeing day today, with amazing stuff from very old to very new. The Old Town has the superb Yuyuan Garden, made in the 17th century (Ming Dynasty) and the even older City God temple (I think these are the Taoist deities that protect the city), established in the 10th century but much rebuilt and restored since. Old meets new in the surrounding streets and arcades constructed in fake-Ming dynasty style, which support Chinese fast food outlets and handicraft shops.

A short walk took us to The Bund - a series of grand late 19th/early 20th century building overlooking the Huangpu River, then via the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel (a psychedelic travelling art experience) to the ultra-modern Pudong district, all built in the last 20 years, now including the world's third tallest building (World Financial Centre), the distinctive Oriental Pearl Tower (great views from 260 metres up) and fashionable malls such as this Super Brand Mall.
