Vermilion Lakes
Yesterday we flew from Vancouver to Calgary then drove to Banff. We weren't sure how much snow and ice there'd be on the roads but they are fine, apart from the smaller roads that go high up. The Bow River has thawed but the Vermilion Lakes just west of the town are still largely frozen. A big herd of elk was grazing on the far side of the lake.
Banff is an expensive place and we've discovered the delights of Tim Hortons where you can get a cappucino and a cooked breakfast for $5.00.
