Headland Warren

It is said by some, that the Normans introduced the rabbit into this country, others say they they were re-introduced by the Normans after becoming extinct here.

Anyhow in the medieval and post medieval periods rabbits were certainly kept in areas called Rabbit Warrens for their meat and fur. They were kept in artificial rabbit buries called pillow mounds

This boundary stone bearing the words WB (Warren Boundary) is one of a series that marked the boundary of Headland Warren which was established in about 1700, and as the area also included a large tin mining community, they would have had a supply of customers on their doorstep.
