As dawn breaks

Preston market, 5.40 am
An early start this morning to ride the Preston Guild Marathon course to measure it.

By the time we returned at 10.30 having been first cold, then soaked and finally dried out and warmed by the sun, the market was bustling with traders and customers.

We did this over Christmas but we were short by 740 yards.
Today's foray was to get the extra distance but this time I got too much and it was 85 yards too long!
I've got there now though so all that is left is to write it all up for the organiser.
I get enormous satisfaction from being able to say the distance is accurate because I know how important it is for athletes.
He's asked me to referee the race and although I would like to run it, I think refereeing will be easier and better for me.
So it looks like my 4 planned marathons may end up just being 1 this year.
