Eventful Sunday.
Up and out early as planned, we were fortunate to see (and cheer) the Paris marathon runners, as they made their way along the banks of the Seine. Next, we got into Notre Dame without having to queue. D was not disappointed, although he subsequently decided that he preferred Sacre-Coeur.
It was cold today, but again we were cheered to see the Sarkozy supporters bused in to hear him speak at place de la Concorde, in advance of the presidential elections next Sunday. Here they are waving their flags in support.
We then walked up the Champ de Mars to the Eiffel Tower, having lunched in a lovely little park nearby. We walked so far that eventually we decided to take the metro back to the apartment, as the rain was getting to us by late afternoon. D turned out to be the expert on the metro system thereafter, as we were planned to go a bit further afield.
