Chocolate school

Years ago, my friend Jen and I, say one night putting the world to rights over a couples of bottles ahem glasses of vino. We decided to both leave our jobs and start up a florist and chocolate shop.

Clearly that hasn't happened...yet! Today I embarked on the process. I went to the Coco Chocolate, Chocolate School. They make my all time favourite chocolate, so I was über excited!

It was so much fun and I actually learnt that I'm pretty good at making chocolate.

Mary and Jen, our trusty chocolatiers, who make all the chocolate for the Coco Bruntsfield stores, taught us about the harvesting of cocoa beans, the elements of chocolate, and of course, how to make it so delicious! We learnt how to temper chocolate, make hazelnut drops, a white chocolate and raspberry slab, rose fondants, chocolate lollipops and drinking chocolate.

I think I ate my body weight in chocolate, came away with a fantastic goody bag of chocolate that I made and a nice wee certificate. I have really enjoyed myself today and have a big grin on my face. Now if only they could give me a job...
