Safari Day One....
...Abedare Park.
Lots of naps were required today; lots of naps that stemmed from two key factors. 1) The 4.30 am booze up on Saturday and 2) The night flights to Kenya!
Driving through Nairobi and the countryside of Kenya was a breath of fresh air. It seems that this part of Africa, unlike my current location, has worked out the long term benefit of bins! The greenery was fully needed too.
We arrived at our destination and after lunch went off to see what we expected to be an authentic insight into tribal life. The modern shades and sandals were perhaps larger indicators to the contrary than any of us had acknowledged. This aside, it was interesting to learn from what they had to say about home life. I was particularly interested in the enthusiasm reserved for stories of male and female circumcision within tribes. Nice!
Tree top lodge was the place we would put our head for the night; its famed for the Queen's visit when she was promoted (if this is the correct term - which I'm sure its not) from princess to Queen. An interesting venue on stilts.
Within moments, we saw buffalo and wild boar. The reality of our adventures to come began to sink in. Food, a few beers later and the arrival of elephants saw lights out, with the 3.30am buzzer indicating the arrival of wildlife - Hyena! Ugly fuckers!

After heroically explaining to Helen that the bugs and flying creatures would be of no harm, I made a right twat out of myself. A bug nearly flew into my mouth, causing me to jump out of my seat at quite a pace.
Serious loss of man points there!
